After doing the examination and x-rays Dr. Hoff determined that Benzy had a very large stone in her bladder that was causing the urinary issues. Dr. Hoff was concerned about the size of the stone and wanted recommend cystotomy surgery immediately.
The following morning Benzy came back into the hospital for the procedure. In a two hour procedure, Dr. Hoff successfully removed the large egg sized bladder stone. It was one of the largest bladder stones our staff have seen to date. We sent the stone out for laboratory testing to determine the cause and to see what long term treatment Benzy would need to prevent another stone from growing in the future.
Benzy made an amazing recovery and was eating, urinating, and wagging her tail almost immediately after surgery. She was discharged from our hospital after being here less than 24-hours. She is now back at home with her family. She will be coming in to have a recheck examination with Dr. Hoff to make sure she continues her recovery process.
