Announcing Dr. Larry Gilman's Retirement

It is with genuine heart-felt gratitude, and sadness, that we announce that Dr. Larry Gilman has decided to retire from veterinary practice as of May 1, 2021 after a wonderful career of 37 years, the last 16 of which have been with Bishop Ranch Veterinary Center and Urgent Care.

Dr. DeLano and Dr. Utchen (founding partners of BRVC) have known Dr. Gilman since 1989 when he opened Marketplace Veterinary Hospital, the same year that Dr. DeLano and Dr. Utchen opened Norris Canyon Veterinary Medical Center, both in San Ramon. As their practices grew over the next 10-15 years, Drs. DeLano and Utchen opened BRVC in year 2000, and Dr. Gilman closed the circle by joining them at BRVC in 2005. Since then, it has been an honor and a complete joy to share our time working alongside him.

A career in veterinary medicine requires many long, sometimes difficult hours and much hard work, and Dr. Gilman has handled all of that with optimism and good humor. He has been a stellar example to all of us, a great mentor, and a wonderful friend. We will all miss him tremendously but wish him a joyous and long retirement as he enters a well-deserved next phase of life.
