We are so excited to highlight Shannon Sorrell this month. Shannon began her journey at Bishop Ranch Veterinary Center almost 3 years ago in our Boarding department. She quickly became a leader in that department, and has helped train new staff on the ins and outs of everyday life in Boarding. With the knowledge she has gained in Boarding she has been able to assist our Treatment department during the busy seasons. Shannon is always going above and beyond to be a team player in the hospital. She recently became crossed trained in our Client Service department and has been a wonderful addition to that team as well. Shannon has said this about her experience working here, "I mostly enjoy how much information there is to learn. From Boarding to Reception and when I've helped in Treatment I never stop learning and I enjoy being able to pass that information along to other staff."
For Shannon working in the animal field comes naturally. She is a huge animal lover and it shows in everything she does. We call her our "Lab Mom" since she owns three Labradors! She breed her dogs Roody and Piper last year. They had ten puppies including Sushi, the one that she kept herself. She says, "People think I'm a little crazy for having 3 labs, but it is truly worth it and I can't imagine having a quieter house." She recently rescued a Rock Dove and named him Gerald. She along with Dr. Williams nursed him back to health and he just flew away back into the wild. Shannon has the biggest heart!
Shannon was born in Walnut Creek and raised throughout the Bay Area. When she isn't working she is going to school fulltime. She just finished two associates degrees in Math and Science along with Human Behavior Science. During her downtime she enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Her Sunday nights are usually spent enjoying a glass of wine and binge watching Game of Thrones.
Thank you again Shannon for your dedication to our clients, their pets, and the hospital! We couldn't do what we do every day without having staff members like you!
